Alicia’s work to date primarily deals with issues of displacement, particularly within a double diaspora. She is interested in the changing identity of the Latinx diaspora and the consequent negotiations of authenticity that surround it. Alicia completed her MFA at University of Oxford Ruskin School of Art in 2016. Her work has been included in Bloomberg New Contemporaries 2016 exhibition at the Bluecoat in Liverpool and later at London’s Institute of Contemporary Art. She was awarded the South London Gallery Graduate Residency 2016-17 and her exhibition ‘Nowhere Else’ was exhibited in the first floor galleries in spring 2017. She was commissioned to create a project as part of 2018 Communal Knowledge at The Showroom. Summer 2018 she had a residency at Kiosko Gallery in Bolivia through Gasworks and Triangle Network. In the fall of 2019 she completed a residency at Bemis Center For Contemporary Arts in the USA. She most recently was awarded an a-n bursary, a Jerwood Bursary, and the Chisenhale Studio Summer 2020 Residency.
