Jade (B. Birmingham,1993) is a UK-based performance artist. Her work explores dialogues and questions of the Black body and identity in relation to historical, cultural and personal events and experiences. Her practice is anchored in exploring Afro-Caribbean customs/ritual/material, and seeks to reclaim the body and self using objects, while highlighting their shared capabilities of holding and embodying past/memory. Through live performance, video and image documentation, she combines use of a racialised and gendered body with the narrative qualities of perishable materials. Her work has been shown in the UK and Europe.
Jade completed an MA in Contemporary Art Practice from the Royal College of Art, and a BA in Fine Art and Psychology from the University of Worcester. She was a recipient of the Tiffany&Co X Outset Studiomakers Prize in 2017.
