The artist group Common Culture was founded in 1996. The current members are David Campbell, Mark Durden and Ian Brown. Common Culture have had a longstanding exploration of culture and class, and art’s affinities with popular forms of entertainment, challenging and contesting the modernist model of art’s cultural distinction and separation from forms of mass culture.
They have exhibited widely in the UK and internationally, with solo exhibitions in Athens, Belfast, Berlin, Birmingham, Derry, Lisbon, London, Manchester, Miami, New York, Nottingham and Porto.
