What often spurs my work is the feel of materials in my hands, and the joy of making. While I am making, I am on a journey with that piece, and although an idea has sprung from somewhere, I am not going to see very far ahead, so there are surprises on my journey. Another element of my process is the touching down on certain themes over years. In my piece, Memory of Her, I refer to the Brontë sisters, and the memorial hair jewellery of that era.
