James Jordan Johnson is an artist and researcher (born 1997, London) working in the medium of performance, sculpture and photography. As an artist belonging to the Caribbean diaspora, his practice explores the transnational, phantasmic and everyday contours and possibilities of black performance traditions. Through performance, sculpture and photography he explores the set of historical conditions that produce Afro-Caribbean memory and materiality through folklore, death and ritual. His work has been shown nationally and internationally.
He has presented work and performances at Toynbee Studios (2020), 180 The Strand (2019), CLAY Leeds (2019), ]performance s p a c e[ (2018) & The Courtauld Institute Art (2018).
