James Lincoln makes pictures of city life from both memory and imagination. The works are made intuitively through an exploratory process of drawing and erasure. Recent works have focused on the city at night, using magic realism as a lens to explore this time as a distortion of every day reality. Drunken pub goers are depicted demon like with multiple eyes and mouths, and the hooded figures that populate our fears lurk in alleyways. James Lincoln (b.1991, UK) lives and works in London. He received a BFA from the Slade School of Fine Art in 2014. Recent exhibitions include A Land of Incomparable Beauty at Collective Ending HQ, Crowd at Hannah Barry Gallery, Fresh Air Hot Sauce at Arebyte Space, Grot at The Horse Hospital, Faces Faeces at Thames-Side Studios Gallery.
