Inspired by myths, legends, folklore and the world of magic, Silia Ka Tung’s visual language borrows as much from pop culture as it does from the natural world. Dynamism, energy and movement are contained by an overall sense of harmony in Tung’s work, striking a delicate balance between chaos and order.
A multidisciplinary artist, Tung works across many mediums including drawing, painting, soft sculpture and installation.
Born in China, Tung has lived and worked in London since 1997, where she studied painting at Chelsea College of Arts (1997-2000), followed by an MFA at Slade School of Fine Art（2000-2002). Tung has had numerous group and solo exhibitions in the UK and internationally, including Royal Academy of Arts, London; et Amsterdam, Holland; Galerie Karsten Greve, Paris; Creative Centre Osaka, Japan; The Rubin Museum, Tel Aviv; MoCA Shanghai; and the Jerwood Space, London.
